Harry Potter House Quiz )

I thought I'd be in Ravenclaw, actually. Last time I was Hugglepuff, I believe. Gryffindor's okay with me, I suppose.

Yesterday, I read The Hogfather by Terry Pratchett another time. It's definitely one of the best. I liked the justification given for telling kids things like the Soul Cake Duck (Easter Bunny) and Hogfather (Santa Claus) are true, even though I don't agree with it. It was good philosophical thinking. And now, a quote or two.

AND NOW THERE REMAINS ONLY ONE FINAL QUESTION.
HAVE YOU BEEN NAUGHTY ... OR NICE?
HO. HO. HO.
~Death in the very end.

--"Well, I mean, dammit, it's human nature, isn't it?" said Ridcully hotly. "Things go wrong, things get lost, it's natural to invent little creatures that -- All right, all right, I'll be careful. All I'm saying is that man is naturally a mythopoeic creature."
--"What's that mean?" said the Senior Wrangler.
--"Means we make things up as we go along," said the Dean, not looking up.
~On the Accretion of Belief

I also studied some for my Spanish midterm tommorrow. I think I'll do okay on it. I need to study vocabulary today though. Good old flashcard time. Just gotta be careful that the word doesn't get attached to the flashcard and is still kept as an abstract for me to use at any time.

*laughs* I have to teach a bit of class this morning. Stuff about one type of irregular preterits. The other two people in my group are covering the other types of irregular preterits. I look forward to it, it should be pretty fun. And it happens in about an hour. So I only get to look forward to it for a little time.

Taking a look at my chat logs lengths...

1. Kearney with a whopping 656kb of conversation.
2. Raserei trailing by slightly less than 200kb at 461.
3. IronPaw almost another full 100 behind at 368.
4. Myrhakel at 326kb.
5. Digger precisely 100kb behind her at 226.

This doesn't take into account where people talk to me with two different chatting engines. Myrhakel's count would probably be up higher if I spliced the MSN-Trillian and MSN conversations into her count. And maybe some more added to Ras from his MSN also.

Nothing really more to say... Need to go reply to Reno at VI though...

Spanish Is Fun.

Heh, I like Spanish. It's a cool class and I'm actually getting things in there. And the teacher likes me and thinks I have some idea what I'm doing. That's true, I suppose. I have more of an idea what's going on than most of the other people in the class.

What I've observed about Spanish is the power lies in the verbs. Just by how the verb is conjugated, it provides you with tons of information, unlike English where the power is ... more evenly spread? I'm not sure. I need to forget English and re-learn it to see where the power is. I suspect it's in adverbs and adjectives, though.

Snippet from class:

Teacher: I'll add another question tommorrow. (We're answering some questions in Spanish.)
Girl: *groans*
Teacher: You know, the Eleventh Commandment says Thou shalt not complain.
Charles (on of my friend in there): That's why they dropped it.
*Me and Charles high five*

I hate falling asleep when I'm supposed to be studying. I just did it and now it's my bedtime, but I must study. Theoretically, I have some sleep from where I fell asleep, but it sure doesn't feel like it.

Isn't it odd when you go to the Store and see a sign that reads: "Sale! 2 for 2$!" And then you go look at the normal price of the item and find it's a dollar? Freaks me out, it does. Because you know what it means? The advertisers know consumers are stupid.

*coughs* Man I haven't posted here in a while.

Updates:

My brother took my truck out to the lake, went swimming and lost my keys. So I have to go to the dealership soon with the number off the key cylinder to get them remade. The church keys that were on the ring will have to be replaced, also. Which takes a long time. Murrrrrderrrr.

Spanish 101 I got an A in. People are badmouthing the class and professor now that we're in 102, but I think I learned more or less what I was supposed to learn.

I like Spanish 102 and am doing well in it. We got to the past tense, which has me jumping for joy.

I hate working with people who don't pay attention or don't study adequately. Because I can race ahead and get everything done, while their plodding behind. Then I feel bad. Sort of.

I think I'll do well in Spanish. The teacher likes me, I think.

Heh, she was quizzing us on vocab and asked me what "nightshirt" was in Espanol. I said "camison?", so she asked me if I'd stake the life of the girl next to me on it. I said no. That provided laughs.

Tcha. They got my lightsaber wrong. As recorded by my personal artist, I have a blue lightsaber. That really ticks me off.

I'm going out to go get the movie The Truman Show. It looks rather interesting. As a side angle off getting the movie, I thought up a reality TV show. It would be called "What Are We Gonna Watch On Friday?" and it would be starring my family. The basic premise would be that there are several choices for what movie to watch and we form alliances, bribe, etc to get our movie as the one of choice.... Yup, I'm weird.

I do not like handling hay either. It gets on your shirt and down your shirt and itches like, like .... something that really, really itches.

I toasted my Spanish Oral Exam this morning. Took most people 5 minutes or so. It took me under a minute, I'm betting. Muahahahahha. Bow before me, the uber leet Spanish GOD.

*thunder*

In other news, I think my confidence is growing. That or my extrovertedness. I'm actually starting to talk to random people in my class when walking down the hall. Previously, I never actually did that. Maybe a nod or wave, but I wouldn't actually say anything to them. Now I did. Having snatches of conversation and such. 'Sodd for me.

I'm not yet very impressed with The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It really hasn't caught my attention as much as it probably shoul have. I think I don't do well reading very, very hyped up books or talking to very, very hyped up people.

Moro doesn't like me. He says I sound like Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett too much. Which I find odd as I quite enjoy Pratchett and I think he does too.

I have an oral exam in Spanish tommorrow. That should be interesting. I think I have a good chance of getting an A/B on that bit. I should, for all look, get an A/B in the class. If I get a B, well, I'll cry, having ruint my perfect 4.0 gpa. *grins* Not really.

I took an online Brain-Teaser test at Tickle.com. I got 28 out of 30 questions wrong which puts me in the 99th percentile. Yaaaay.

Hmmmm, guess what I just figured out. I can find Anime streams online with WinAmp Internet TV. Now, it doesn't seem like there's extremely much selection, but it's not like I'm into anime ... yet. All that Ive seen of it is interesting. The only TV I think I could watch for a long time, methinks. Wish I knew Japanese though.

Im watching Helsing at the moment. Unfortunately, it appears that I caught this run towards the middle or end. Its Order 12: Total Destruction at the moment. Its funny how much you can imply just by knowing some names of Vampire Mythology. Alucard is Dracula backwards... Good ol Annotated Pratchett. Im wondering who Integra is though... And the girl with the red eyes... The costumes are nice... The music is good too... I only wish it was in English...

Other news. Tommorrow is my first exam in Spanish. The Midterm, hactually. Must ... study ... vocabulary ... and ... verbs. I think it will be a breeze though. Other than I might have troubles with where to put the tick marks and such. Spanish 101 in four weeks is working well for me. I think the professor thinks I know what Im doing also. And thats half the battle. Even if I dont know a thing, the grade is based on whether she thinks I know.

Thats all at the moment. VI is just interesting...

I have to get a passcode to sign back up into VI. No problem, right? Just get ahold of Retto.

Ha-ha. He's like Prof. Bellis. When you don't need him, you always see him, but when you're looking for him, he's not there. I swear. Every time I turn my back he's dancing between the hallways.

Anyways, I requested it to my Marshall account. Last night I left a notice with the Rettster about the passcode. So I went to check my email. It's down. Graaaaar.

I'm still sore.

They're so cool. And I know, politically, it should be "African-American" people. It just doesn't have that ring though. Anyways, more antics of James in class.

James: Hey, how do you say "What's really good?"
minutes later they figure it out
James: Que realmente bien?
Professor: Yes?
James: You're supposed to say "Holla."
Professor: Write, in English
Veronica (the girl beside me whose name I finally figured out): I don't think there is an English word. It's slang.
Me: It's holler.
Professor (after looking at "holler"): Holer.
James: Yeah, so when I say "Que realmente bien?" you say "Holer."
Professor: *Nods bewilderedly*

Did not work out today. I thought my bro was going to show me around the Ceredo gym today. However, as it turns out, we're going to do that tomorrow. So I'm stuck here at home with my Spanish, my computer and a new video game. MUAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA!

Ahem, these conversations took place in my Spanish class. The people are James (African American from New York, New York), that girl from Charleston (also African American), myself, and David, a fellow from southern DC.

James: Man, Spanish be kickin' my ass.
That Girl: Look, you just cursed again.
James: I'm not cursing. See, an ass is a donkey.
David: So Spanish - is kicking your donkeys.
James: That's right. Spanish be kickin' my donkeys up in heah.

That Girl: Why do you curse so much?
James: Man, I don't curse much at all.
That Girl: Like five times a sentence.
James: Man, that's just wrong.
Myself: Really, it's more like four and a half.
James: *shakes head*
That Girl: Or four and a quarter.
Myself: Or four, but only if it's a bad day.

Yo soy inteligente.

More Spanish. I realized that now we have covered two weeks of lecture time in three days and my brain hasn't exploded yet. At least, last time I checked, it hadn't blown up. *feels head* Yup, the top's still there. And the sides. And I'm pretty sure the bottom is too.

Heh, anyways, today we learned more stuff. Whoda thunk. I think the biggest new thing we learned were articles. We had some kind of quiz. And I went up and wrote on the board. I don't like chalk. Much prefer a whiteboard and markers. Muahahahha, I know the alphabet pretty well.

*grins* It's sort of odd which group that it turns out that I'm sort of "in." The black students. And I'm white. *laughs* Jesse, James, Jumal and the girl who's name I didn't catch. Oh, I got the name of the girl who sits beside me. Veronica. I wonder if that's what she prefers to be called...

And a random thought when I was buying stuff at Walmart

Okay, anyways. Spanish was cool. I'm picking it up quite nicely and such. Faster than most of the other people. *grins* Y'know, beautiful girls are everywhere. One of them was sitting next to me in class. Her best friend's name is Mandi. And I have no idea what her name is. Grrrr, that's what the idiotic exercise was for. *laughs* Crush-happy, that's what I am.

Got my grades back for the spring semester. Another card, another four-point-oh. *grins*

Okay. Last update before going to bed.

Class was interesting. The teacher speaks little English. At all. It's very difficult to learn that way. She also doesn't raise her voice. And she talks to the Blackboard. Okay, so it's in Spanish anyways, but it's still to the Blackboard.

Other than that, I read and napped a bit. I'm about to head to bed.

IronPaw is back. He's re-launching my old treasure thing plot. Which means he needs a Smelt issue on it out by Saturday! This is nigh-unheard-of, but he is paying nicely. Now, if only my writers would work... 150 gilders for an article and I gave them a passel of ideas. They better deliver.

I'm posting in the morning. Ahem. That is a gasp-worthy thing. Especially when I haven't been up all night. Meaning that I've slept between the last night and this morning, doncha know. A momentous occaison indeed.

Oh, I'm eating breakfast too. Which I never do, because I never wake up in time to do. Well, almost never. *Pulls salt shaker out of his pocket* It's oatmeal. Needs salt. *winks*

Okay, so why the heck am I up early? Summer school. Class starts in one hour and forty minutes. Spanish 1, first day. Buenos ... Buenos ... what's morning? *laughs* Thankfully, I don't think it will be as hard as French or German was. Two hours every day for the rest of the summer (barring weekends and one monday midway through). If I don't get it just by the psuedo-immersion...

Heh, I think this means I'll have a test in it every week. How utterly, utterly sad. I thought I just got away from the flippin' things. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Ah, yes. I knew there was something else I was going to say. I've been thinking alot about what I'm supposed to do for this thing my church is doing this summer. It's a sort of teen retreat thing. I haven't had a leading as what to do and it has been eating at my soul, style o' fing.

Anyways, I woke up after sleeping about two-three hours. I couldn't get back to sleep. So I grabbed the closest book and started reading. In Six Days. It is basically 50 scientists saying why they believe in the Six-Day Creation. Very good.

And poof, there I was brought back to what I do. I'm an intellectual. I'm a Christian. I'm a bit argumentative. Therefore, I'm an apologetic. This I already knew, but I had sorta let it slip to the back of my mind.

*Grins* Now to re-read that other book...

Woohoo

Ahem. I had my last final today. Toasted it, of course. Last night I didn't get to sleep at all though. Pre-test anxiety. I get it awful. Especially in classes I understand quite well. Eg, the important ones. It's nasty. I'm smart, but some small part of me believes that I have to stress about everything academic.

Heh, talked to one of my friend's today. It looks like I'm definitely going back to the Captain's. However, I'll try to only be working the dining room. I don't like doing the cash stuff. Kleptomaniac past, doncha know.

My friend who works there quite shocked me. She said that "my woman" was still working there. That quite unnerved me. I haven't asked her out or anything, I just want to. I do not like being unnerved.

I am going to get some sleep now. We're going to see Van Helsing later tonight. I hope. And I'm dead-beat. Oh, well, I've got about an hour...

Free until Monday...

Okay. I have not posted much today except for stupid stuff. That is not, however, to say that I have done nought. I have put out words elsewhere but here. Trust me, they're all going somewhere, just maybe not somewhere where they can easily be tracked down.

Today. Today. What did I do today? Oh, yes, that's right. I got up about 1-ish. Don't glare at me. I'm making the most of what little time I've got to be a lazy arse. From then until 4:10-ish I worked on the rest of my independent study. I got all of the suggested projects, the notes on the projects and the disclaimer on the study as a whole done. Then I sent them to my professor. I have not recieved word back. I'm expecting a B on it. Which will spoil my perfect 4.0. I don't mind though. I figure I'm entitled not to be perfect in something academically...

So what did I do at 4:30? I went to go study for the exam I have in roughly 11 hours. Not much studying was really done though as it's not a cumulative final (Praise Yah) and we have had only about a fortnight of lecture since the last test. Muahahaha. I feel an A or B. It doesn' t really matter for me, though. I've got an A average and it would take a helluva bad score to take me down to a B. And I never get a helluva bad score on maths. Social Studies, yes. Maths, no.

After studying, I helped one of my friends put his stuff into storage. That was cool. One of my other friend's boyfriend is a cad though.

Okay, to give a more full picture, one of my best friends has all kinds of Learning Disablities and assorted other Psychological Things. This makes school a helluva lot harder for her. Therefore, she has tutors for everything and gets help from me a lot in math. They don't have any tutors that can do the math we've gotten to...

Anyways, because of her ... problems, she has a low GPA. Her boyfriend threatened to kick her out last semester if she didn't pass. He has done the same this semester. Grrr. That is despicable.

If I ever do that to my wife (because we wouldn't be living together) or say that I'll break up with my girlfriend (provided that I eventually get one) because of that, somebody slap me. I was quite mad. Quite mad. Mad with a capital M. He's a cad.

Now I'm here. I'm about to go to sleep. In fact, I'll bid you good night.

*sighs*

I Did Stuff Today!

*laughs* The last two days I've lazed around and done just about nothing. Correction, I did nothing. Period. I slept and played around on VI. That's it. But I'm entitled to do nothing. It's the end of the semester and whatnot.

However, today, I did stuff. I woke up and surfed around a little bit. Then I went out. Following is a description of my mis-adventures.

First, I went and filled up my truck. Gas was a whopping $1.89 a gallon. *grimaces* And I had to put oil in. And that was it for that bit of the adventure. I got some Peanut M&Ms too. I like Peanut M&Ms, but not M&Ms with peanut butter inside. Weird, I know.

Second, I went to David Hill Ltd to sell off the last of my gold and silver. That was cool. I got $664 (the Neighbor of the Beast) for all I brought. Enough to see me a little ways and to pay for my first summer class. When the check comes back from the Church Trailer, I'll be in fat city for the classes. I'll have to pick up a job to get money though...

Third, I went to the Bursar's office and paid for my first summer class. $408 bucks. *groans* Why do I have to be bad at Foreign Languages? *glares at reader* Don't answer that if you don't want a visit from Akof.

The fourth place I went was the new SuperWalmart. *hisses* They moved everything around and got rid of the drinks until the Food Center opens. I was able to find everything though. Got a few mechanical pencils, leads, erasers, a pillow, a pillow protector and a watch. Need to put the watch on.

The fifth place was back to Captain D's to let them know I might be coming back soon. Though I hate to work at the same place as the King Orange, it's a job with people I more or less know. And the girl I like is there. *grins*

And lastly I stopped at the bank to deposit the rest of my money from selling the gold and silver. I should be able to order some books soon.

And now I'm back and am chatting with Breth.

Okay, I did not get enough sleep last night. Not enough sleep at all. I woke up groggily at 8:45 and pushed myself out of bed at about five til. I had to be in class at 9:30. I grabbed a shower and rushed to class, rubbing sleep from my eyes. And I remembered to put my pants on.

I did worse on that final than any test I've had in Geography. However, since I only have to make a 60 to get an A, I'm fine with it. My seat was taken, so I sat in the middle of the class. The Professor remarked upon it. I wish I didn't make myself noticeable all the time.

After that, me and my group worked on our project some more. The professor came up to us and looked at our code. Then he asked us why we were doing such and thus. And I explained. And he said why. And I explained more. And he said why. And I explained some more. And he said, here, this way would be easier and wrote us a few code snippets.

His way was easier. And better. And more efficient. *laughs* So we implemented it. There are still some bugs to work out of it, but we're doing another round of debugging tommorrow.

Nothing much else happened today. I'm tired. I have to work on my independent study though. I shall be awake awhile.

I remembered it! I only have to pay 400$ for each of my summer classes as opposed to 900$. Which means I have the money to pay for all three right off. Or when the money comes back from the church trailer.

Anyways, this means I won't have to work a suicide schedule with work and whatnot to pay for summer school. Which I quite enjoy. Now to figure out where I want to or can work...
